Abhimanyu Mishra also known as “Abhi” just beat GM karjakin’s record and is now the world youngest chess grandmaster in history.
Mishra is an American chess prodigy from New Jersey who was born on February 9, 2009.
He was able to beat GM Sergei Karjakin’s 19-year record with a few months difference.
At the age of 12 years and 7 months, Karjakin, a former World Championship challenger, earned the title of Grandmaster.
Mishra on the other hand, required just 12 years, 4 months and 25 days to reach the highest chess title.
The current IM obtained his third and final norm at the Vezerkepzo GM Mix tournament in Budapest, Hungary, defeating GM Leon Luke Mendonca to complete his lengthy journey to Grandmaster.
FIDE took to Twitter to congratulate the latest GM in town.
